Our mission hasn’t changed:
Connect all nodes in the Montreal data community.
Since 2014 we’ve been doing this by hosting monthly meetups focused on machine learning, analysis, statistical methods, visualization and other data topics.
In early 2015 we were the driving force behind the Montreal participation in the global Big Data Week. We were fortunate to find sponsorship from Ubisoft, Aviva and many other players in the Montreal data landscape. The week culminated in a 48 hour hackathon that saw fantastic projects realized and presented to our esteemed panel of judges.
In 2015 we also launched the first of many Open Data Book Club (ODBC) meetups. This event takes a hands-on, crowd-sourced approach to data analysis, with a different theme and data set selected each month.
Going forward, in 2016 we’re excited to start investing in ways we can digitally serve the Montreal Data community, starting with this website and the newly launched MTLDATA BULLETIN. We will also be breathing new life into our facebook (group + page), twitter and slack accounts.
If you’re interested in getting involved in any of this, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
Looking forward to a deeply connected 2016.
